Precautions:
Before the raw water contact filter material, it should be reducing the pH value.
Its reduction value should be determined through the technical and economic comparison.
It generally should be adjusted to 6.0 ~ 7.0. Raw water
Activated alumina can be added sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, acetic acid and other acidic solutions or added carbon dioxide gas to reduce the pH value.
The added amount should be calculated according to the alkalinity and pH value of the raw water or determined by test.
The filter speed of the filter tank can be adopted in the following two ways.

(1) When the inlet pH value of the filter is greater than 7.0, the intermittent operation mode should be adopted. The designed filter speed is 2 ~ 3 m/h, the continuous operation time is 4 ~ 6 h, and the interval is 4 ~ 6 x.
(2) When the inlet pH value is less than 7.0, continuous operation can be adopted, and the filtration rate is 6 ~ 10 m/h. The flow of raw water through the filter layer can be bottom-up or top-down.
When sulfuric acid solution is used to adjust the pH value, the top-down approach should be adopted. When carbon dioxide is used to adjust pH value, the bottom-up approach should be adopted.
The fluoride content of the effluent from a single filter at the end point of the defluorination cycle can be slightly higher than 1 mg/L, and the fluoride value at the end point should be determined according to the mixing adjustment ability, but the fluoride content of the mixed treated water should not be greater than 1.0 mg/L.
