Does catalyst poisoning lead to deactivation of the reforming catalysts

Any substance retained on the catalyst may be deposited on the catalyst in the form of a solid, thus reducing the effectiveness of the steam reforming catalyst. Generally speaking, sulfur, chlorine and arsenic are the more serious poisons. But the most common is still sulfur poisoning, sulfur poisoning is reversible, chlorine poisoning is also reversible but regeneration is more difficult than sulfur poisoning, arsenic poisoning is permanent, once the conversion catalyst arsenic poisoning must replace the catalyst. Generally speaking, sulfur mainly causes poisoning of catalyst in the upper part of the conversion furnace, and does not cause poisoning of the whole bed, and sulfur will lead to pollution of the whole system when it seriously exceeds the standard. Sulfur poisoning of the reforming catalyst can be regenerated by steam to restore the activity, but if the poisoning is serious, the reforming catalyst will be seriously inactivated and damaged.
