The accumulation of HCl in the recycled hydrogen can be a serious hazard to production equipment, pipelines and reforming catalysts. In view of this hazard, dechlorination agents have been developed.
Currently, highly active dechlorinating agents are widely used in the petrochemical industry and play an important role in the prevention of plant corrosion and catalyst poisoning.
1. AMC-TL-401 is used in feedstock dechlorination process for production of hydrogen, ammonia synthesis gas, or methanol synthesis gas with hydrocarbon steam reforming. It is also used in deep dechlorination of varieties of gases such as synthesis gas, hydronitrogen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide etc..
2. AMC-TL-403 is suitable for deep dechlorination of varieties of gases such as hydrogen, nitrogen, synthesis gas,reformer hydrogen, gas hydrocarbons under low or ambient temperature.
The use of highly active dechlorinating agents effectively reduces the corrosion of equipment, the blockage of pipelines and the formation of ammonium salts, and improves the activity of the catalyst. At present, large and medium-sized petrochemical plants at home and abroad are equipped with dechlorination devices, and the use of devices effectively improve the quality of products and oil utilization rate, it is clear that the dechlorinating agent in the petrochemical production is increasingly important.

Reaction principle:
The inorganic acid chloride ions such as Cl- in the raw gas react with the metal oxides in the dechlorinator to form stable chlorides which are retained in the catalyst micropores, the chemical reaction equation is:
MO+2HCl=MCl2+H2O
At the same time, under the catalytic effect of the composite metal oxide, H2S and other sulphides can react with the metal oxide to form metal sulphides deposited in the catalyst micro-pores, thus achieving the purpose of dechlorination and sulphur removal.
