The thermal shock resistance of alumium oxide refractory depends on its microstructure and the shape and size of the product. Generally speaking, its thermal shock resistance is medium. In short, It has the properties of high temperature resistance, high strength, high hardness, oxidation resistance, electrical insulation, corrosion resistance, and good air tightness. Therefore, as a special refractory material, it is widely used. The representative use is to use its high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and high strength as sliding nozzles, immersion nozzles, metallurgical high-purity metals or crucibles for growing single crystals in steelmaking production, and structural parts of various high-temperature furnaces. (furnace wall, furnace tube), heat-resistant and anti-oxidative coating, etc.

After replacing the Al2O3 with an appropriate amount of high-temperature powder, the high-temperature resistance of the refractory material did not decrease but increased, and the linear change rate of the refractory also increased. The reason is that adding an appropriate amount of high-temperature aluminum can appropriately increase the density of the castable. At high temperature, high-temperature al2o3 can also form mullite with micro-silica powder, which improves the high-temperature strength of the castable. Therefore, when adding high-temperature powder to refractory materials, it must be used, and low-purity high-temperature alumina powder cannot be used cheaply.
