The application of aluminum hydroxide (ATH) in the field of flame retardant
ATH is one of the halogen -free flame retardants of the synthetic material. It has three major functions of flame retardant, smoking, and filling. Because there is no secondary pollution when burning, it is widely used in the polymer. , Wires, cables, daily necessities, building materials, transportation and other plastic and rubber products.
1. Rubber elasticity
Inorganic hydroxides can be used as flame retardant additives in a series of rubber. Depending on the thickness of the product, flame retardant requirements, and hydroxide characteristics, the adding concentration of inorganic hydroxides will also be different (such as 40% of natural rubber generally used 40% ~ 70%inorganic hydroxide flame retardant). Due to the low cost, ATH has become the largest inorganic hydroxide flame retardant in the market.
2. Thermoplastic material
Among the thermoplastic materials using ATH as a flame retardant, the most common is polyvinyl chloride, because ATH can replace calcium carbonate and is easily mixed into plastic polyvinyl chloride. There are two ways to achieve high -standard flame retardability: one is to use ATH and phosphate flame retardant; the other is to use ATH and zinc borate. These two formulas have been used in PVC's wires and cable materials.
3. Synthetic rubber
ATH can not only be used as a flame retardant in rubber, but also can be used as a toner for phenyl -phenyl rubber. In the rubber adhesives of the rubber binders at the bottom layer of the carpet, it can also be used in choprylex rubber used for paving.
