Aluminum hydroxide flame retardants are halogen-free flame retardants of synthetic materials, filling materials, applied in the following aspects:

(1) It has three major functions of flame retardant, smoke elimination and filling, no secondary pollution during combustion, good dispersion in the polymer, and easy to produce flame retardant synergistic effect with other additives, and can be widely used in unsaturated polyester, epoxy resin, thermoplastic, synthetic rubber, composite materials and other products.
(2) When unsaturated polyester is poured into the production of various high or low voltage electrical switches, the addition of ATH can make the products have flame retardancy, smoke elimination and arc resistance. Because the whiteness of high white ATH is more than 93 %, it has certain crystalline form and refractive index similar to that of polyester resin.
(3) In the epoxy resin, ATH has a significant role in improving the oxygen index, can be used for sealing materials, casting pieces, epoxy resin glass fiber sheets, etc. In the electrical aspect, ATH can enhance the arc resistance and arc trace resistance of epoxy resin. Epoxy resin filled with aluminum hydroxide also has a great future in making transformers, insulation equipment, switchgear and so on.
(4) in polyethylene and polypropylene combustibility polyolefin plastic products with high filling amount of ATH flame retardant not only, still can make high filling quantity of polyolefin composite reaction more easily through die casting processing, improve the tensile strength and impact resistant performance of the product, make it widely used in electrical conduit and equipment coat.
(5) In the rubber ATH not only as a flame retardant, and can be used as a reinforcing agent for styrene butadiene rubber latex foam rubber and carpet bottom rubber adhesive, also can be used for bedding neoprene. Aluminum hydroxide also plays an important role in improving the resistance of silicon rubber to electric leakage starting mark.

(6) ATH is widely used in carpet and non-woven fabric industry, mainly making use of its high filling and environmental protection and flame retardant performance.
(7) Ultra-fine active special aluminum hydroxide is mainly used in the production of low smoke halogen-free cables, composite insulators and copper-clad plates.
