The advantages of ATH as flame retardant
1) The endothermic and cooling effect of the reaction process is outstanding
The content of crystal water in aluminum hydroxide is as high as 34.46%. When the ambient temperature rises to more than 300℃, all the water precipitates. Since water has a high specific heat, it absorbs a great deal of heat from its surroundings when it is converted to steam. Magnesium hydroxide also contains crystal water, but the water content is only 30.6%. And magnesium hydroxide is not conducive to dielectric properties, the applicability is not as good as aluminum hydroxide.
2) Environmental protection and safety in the flame retardant process, will not produce toxic gas.
3) It has a reinforcing effect on rubber products
When the particle size of aluminum hydroxide is low to quasi-nanometer level (diameter ≤2μm), it can also have reinforcing effect on rubber products, and with the smaller the particle size, the stronger the reinforcing effect is, the better the flame retardant effect is.
4) Adequate resources
The preparation and processing technology of aluminum hydroxide is relatively mature, easy to obtain and low price.
