What's the definition of superfine powder?


For different industries or products, the standards of superfine powder are different. Some standards affirm that the D50 of superfine powder should be smaller than 1.0 um, some affirm that the primary crystal of powder should be smaller than 100 nm and D90 should be smaller than 1.0 um.


Certainly, the testing results of superfine powder by laser diffraction are different when tested on equipments of different brands, unless to test the same materials on different equipments to make reference.


In China, the actual D50 of some so called superfine ATH is around 2.0 um, even lower than 3.0 um. To some manufacturers, it is not easy to produce ATH with D50 smaller than 1.0 um even 1.5 um.


The most popular grade name of superfine ATH in China is H-WF-1 and many users think the D50 of this grade is 1.0 um. We have to say it is wrong cognition and the actual ATH they got are different.


Regarding the loading of 20ft cotainer, the density of ATH are very important. As we know, the smaller particle size, the bigger volume. If you can load fixed quantity such as 12 mt in the container, there are 2 factors that affect the loading quantity.


One is the D50 of ATH powder is really small(eg. 1.0~1.2 um) and you can only load 12mt in the container. The other one is the D50 of ATH powder is big(eg. 1.7~2.2 um) but the density is not good.


Density and package are important. The ATH of some Japan, Europe, USA manufactuers can be loaded 18 or 19 mt in 20ft container. It is what China manufacturers should be improved as their ATH(same grade ATH) can only load 12 to 16mt, sometimes.


Keep improving and creating advantages are the best solutions for development.
