Boehmite, whose chemical formula is γ-Al2O3·H2O or γ-AlOOH, belongs to the orthorhombic system.

γ-AlOOH is composed of many A1O6 octahedrons. Al is in the center of the octahedron, and O is at the vertex of the octahedron. The octahedron forms double chains through coplanarity, and then co-vertices form a three-dimensional framework structure. Its crystal structure is shown in the figure below.
