Application characteristics of modified magnesium hydroxide
In recent years, magnesium hydroxide (MH) has received much attention as a flame retardant at home and abroad. Compared with halogen flame retardants, MH can not only improve the flame retardant effect of materials, but also no toxic gases such as smoke and hydrogen halide are generated. It has been reported that when the content of MH flame retardant in LDPE system is increased to more than 50%, the material has good flame retardant effect. However, the addition of too much MH flame retardant can seriously affect the mechanical properties as well as the processing properties of the polymer, and the strong hydrophilic and oleophobic properties of the MDH material surface lead to poor compatibility with polymer materials and easy agglomeration in the base material. Therefore, the compatibility of flame retardants with polymer matrix can be improved by modification, so that the flame retardant particles can be more uniformly dispersed in the matrix material and the same flame retardant effect can be achieved while reducing the amount of flame retardant.
