In 2020, Global Alumina Output Has Reached 134 Million Tons, A Year-on-year Growth Of 1.41%

According to the data of the International Aluminium Association, in December 2020, the global alumina production was 11.84 million tons, and in November, the output was 11.376 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 4%;

11.27 million tons in the same period of 2019, a year-on-year increase of 5.06%.

In 2020, global alumina production totaled 134 million tons, and in 2019 it was 132 million tons, up 1.41% year on year.

In terms of region, in December, alumina production in Asia and Africa (excluding China) was 1.097 million tons, up 20.15% year on year and 4.78% month-on-month.

In 2020, alumina production in the above-mentioned areas totaled 12.395 million tons and 10.329 million tons in 2019.

In December, China's alumina production (estimated) was 6.23 million tons, compared with 5.918 million tons in the same period in 2019.

China's alumina production totaled 70.353 million tons in 2020 and 71.284 million tons in 2019.

Alumina production in the Oceania region reached 1.847 million tons in December, compared to 1.814 million tons in the same period in 2019.

In 2020, the total output of alumina in the Oceania region was 21.171 million tons, compared with 20.491 million tons in the same period in 2019.

Alumina production in Central and Eastern Europe was 416,000 tonnes in December, up 3.48% month-on-month, and 394,000 tonnes in the same period of 2019, up 5.58% year on year.

The total output of alumina in CEE reached 4.597 million tons in 2020 and 4.447 million tons in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 3.73%.

Western European alumina production was 476,000 tonnes in December, up 4.39 per cent month-on-month.

In 2020, the total production of alumina in Western Europe was 5.618 million tons, compared with 5.738 million tons in the same period of 2019, a year-on-year decline of 2.09%.

The South American region produced 1.104 million tonnes of alumina in December, 980,000 tonnes in November and 1.003 million tonnes in the same period in 2019.

In 2020, the total production of alumina in South America was 11.78 million tons, and in 2019 production was 10.739 million tons.

North America produced 229,000 tonnes of alumina in December, compared with 227,000 tonnes in the previous month and 267,000 tonnes in the same period in 2019.

North American alumina production totaled 2.671 million tons in 2020 and 2.932 million tons in 2019.
