Magnesium oxide ----- ceramic sintering additives

High purity magnesium oxide is widely used in various fields, including ceramics, such as filter ceramics, electronic ceramics, magnesium oxide ceramics, where magnesium oxide ceramics as a crucible for smelting metals and alloys, with a series of advantages such as high hardness, high strength, high melting point.

The addition of magnesium oxide into ceramics can make the sintering performance and thermal shock resistance of ceramics improve more obviously, and significantly improve the sintering density and thermal shock resistance of specimens, and substantially promote the sintering of ceramics. Magnesium oxide as an inorganic material, high stability, high temperature volatility is weak, can activate the lattice, promote sintering, in order to improve the sintering properties of magnesium materials.

Magnesia ceramics are commonly sintered by hot-pressure sintering and hot isostatic sintering, and its atmospheric pressure sintering still has certain defects. Hot-pressure sintering helps the powder particles to fully contact and conduct diffusion, thus reducing the sintering temperature of magnesium oxide ceramics and shortening the sintering time. Hot isostatic sintering temperature can complete the sintering densification of ceramics at a much lower temperature than other sintering methods, which effectively inhibits the unfavorable reaction of MgO ceramics at high temperature.
