Lithium battery separator - alumina coating
Ultrafine alumina is currently the most widely used inorganic powder in the modification of lithium battery separators. The method of modifying the lithium battery separator with alumina is usually to coat the alumina particles on the surface of the polyolefin separator with the assistance of a polymer binder, so as to improve the thermal stability, mechanical strength and wettability of the separator. As a lithium battery separator ceramic coating, it has the following advantages:
Industrially, alumina ultrafine powder is mainly obtained by calcining precursors including gibbsite, pseudoboehmite, boehmite, ammonium aluminum carbonate and ammonium aluminum sulfate. After calcining the precursor, the ultrafine powder can be obtained by wet grinding, drying, pulverization and classification.
Application: Alumina-coated lithium battery separators are favored by many industry leaders, such as Sanyo (Sanyo), LG, Hitachi (Maxell), etc., all use alumina-coated separators to improve battery safety performance.
